Electrical Energy Sharing: New Opportunity for More Efficient Use

Imagine you have a solar power plant on a school roof. In summer, when sunshine is most intense and electricity production highest, the school is paradoxically closed and energy consumption minimal.

What to do with surplus energy?

Since July 2024, there's an opportunity to share produced electricity between different facilities.

Electrical energy sharing represents a significant step towards more efficient use of renewable sources.

How Does Energy Sharing Work?

The principle is simple - when one of your facilities produces more energy than it consumes, this surplus can be immediately used in another of your buildings.

For example, energy produced on a school roof can power the municipal office, wastewater treatment plant, sports hall, or health center during holidays.

Instead of selling surpluses to the grid, you can efficiently use energy where you need it at the moment.

The Future is in Sharing

With the growing number of solar power plants, this system will gain importance and become a standard tool for optimizing solar energy use.

Important Technical Aspects

It's important to keep in mind that energy sharing works in real time - energy must be consumed at the moment it's produced.

What's Needed for Energy Sharing?

Battery systems are not necessary for sharing, but they can be a useful addition for optimizing consumption within individual facilities.

Each consumption point must be equipped with a special four-quadrant meter with continuous measurement.

The good news is that these meters are provided free of charge based on an active customer status application.

The only thing you need to ensure is preparing the consumption point for meter installation, which usually represents an investment around 20-30 thousand crowns. Some consumption points are already prepared for this connection.

As industry experts, we're ready to help you with preparation and implementation of an energy sharing system for your facilities.

Intelligent Control Without Worries

The entire system is managed by the Electrical Energy Data Center (edc-cr.cz).

This system automatically monitors energy production and consumption in all connected facilities and manages its distribution according to your set priorities. You can, for example, determine that energy from the school should primarily be directed to the wastewater treatment plant, which runs continuously, and only then to other facilities.

The system works automatically and doesn't require your daily attention.
