We installed a photovoltaic power plant with an output of 49.5 kWp and battery storage on the roofs of the municipal office and cinema

For the municipality of Doubravice nad Svitavou we designed and delivered a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 49.5 kWp and battery storage with a capacity of 107.52 kWh. We installed the panels on the roofs of the municipal office and the adjacent cinema.

The plant consists of 90 Trina Solar monocrystalline panels with a rated output of 550 Wp. The panels are installed on three roofs with different orientations and tilt angles. There are 24 panels on the municipal office roof, 30 on the western part of the cinema roof and 36 on the eastern part. The total area of the installation is 245 m².

The electricity generated is used mainly for the municipality's own consumption. The municipality has registered the following consumption points: the municipal office, the cinema, the community hall and the village pub. The solution is designed so that during the day the electricity is consumed in these buildings while the battery storage is charged, and at night the storage powers the public lighting. The municipality therefore uses approximately 95% of the electricity generated on site. How many further buildings will be included in energy sharing is something we will assess together with the municipality after a period of operation.

Storage is provided by a KStar system with six LFP battery modules of 17.92 kWh each and a hybrid inverter with an output of 50 kW. The batteries are housed in a compact outdoor cabinet with IP54 protection, active cooling and safety equipment that includes carbon monoxide detection, an explosion vent, an exhaust fan and a fire water injection port.

The installation also includes Tigo optimizers with the Rapid Shutdown function. They control the output of each panel individually, so partial shading of one part of the roof does not reduce the output of the whole system. Rapid Shutdown also makes it possible to quickly reduce the DC voltage on the roof to a safe level, whether during a fire brigade intervention or during roof maintenance.

The expected annual energy yield of the plant is approximately 47.7 MWh of electricity. We estimate that the plant will cover 30 to 40% of the consumption of the connected buildings. The final share will depend on the number of consumption points included in energy sharing and reflects lower output during the winter months.

The project is supported by the Modernization Fund, under call RES+ No. 3/2025 of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic, which is intended for photovoltaic power plants on public buildings.
